About Me

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1531497788322{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Classroom age: Pre-K 3-5 years

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? My Mom and I were always involved in youth activities both in and out of the classroom. At Age 13 she enrolled me in the Counselor In Training program, from there I became a Junior Counselor and subsequently a Counselor for the local youth program. At 16 She and I volunteered at an after school Stem program. The following year I was working with a 3rd-5th Special Needs class for High School credit.

My best day in the classroom was when….At my last center which I worked at for about 10 years, I worked with a 4yr old young man who had Autism. He was non-verbal and not expected to ever speak. I believed that he could and so I strived to get him to at least parrot me. After one year of working with him he spoke his very first words to me “Eyes ears nose mouth”. Both his mother and I cried. Now as a teenager he is in both special needs and regular classes.

If you could have one teacher superpower what would it be? To multiply myself. Classroom management would be such a breeze!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? I love to read, helping to raise my amazing niece, traveling, trying new and exotic foods, oh and roller-coasters.

What else would you like to share about yourself or profession? I take a great deal of pride in being a male in a very female dominated profession. I have always believed that children can benefit greatly by having both in a classroom. Many of the nation’s children are growing up without any positive male role models. If I can help provide that even for just one child then I have done my job. I could not imagine doing anything else. People say to me all the time “How interesting you’re a teacher”, I prefer the term Educational ROCKSTAR!

What is your favorite food? Cheeseburgers

What is your favorite book? A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
